Slow, handcrafted processes carry a narrative. They offer a rich cultural, historical and geographical story in harmony with a deeply rooted sense of tradition. A renewed interest in ‘slow’ design can be explored via hand-craftsmanship. By gaining tacit material knowledge, I am able to honour the artisanal skills embedded in traditional textiles whilst adding my own designer handwriting, to develop one-of-a-kind contemporary pieces with an heirloom quality, suited for today’s fashion context. Slow handcrafted techniques are the future of fashion as a way of keeping tradition and cultural heritage alive.
